What We Do

Organizational approach

Have you ever attended a one-day training on trauma-informed care or something else, left the training with your binder and a set of skills, yet nothing changed?

That approach is called “train and pray.” And it doesn’t work.

Training is fantastic for raising awareness on an issue, but it’s not great at changing practice and culture at the fundamental level.

True culture and practice change comes from a mixture of training, consultation/coaching at multiple levels of the organization, and ongoing support.

WE FOCuS ON practice and culture CHANGE across multiple systems, including child welfare, mental health, and the broader community

Lisa can support organizations and systems to fully implement and sustain a trauma-informed approach through the following activities:

  • Conducting an organizational assessment on the trauma-informed nature of your agency and/or system and identifying priorities for change

  • Garnering senior leadership buy-in and commitment

  • Planning, convening, and facilitating learning sessions to support implementation efforts

  • Creating implementation teams or learning circles

  • Weaving systems change efforts into current priorities

  • Facilitating teams in creating small tests of change to pilot test strategies

  • Translating small changes into larger system improvements

  • Facilitating training tailored to front-line staff members, supervisors/managers, and senior administrators
